Groupyid Local privacy policy

Effective August 24, 2026

Local boundary: The Stage 1 Android app has no Groupyid account, developer server, Internet permission, analytics, advertising, tracking, contact upload, remote logging, or remote backup.

Data on the Android gateway

Groupyid stores member names, aliases, phone numbers, consent and membership state, message content, delivery state, selected-SIM metadata, local diagnostics, and aggregate usage estimates on the administrator’s Android device. This data is used for personal messaging, closed-group relay, safety controls, and local troubleshooting.

Contacts and exports

Contacts are read only after an administrator opens Android’s system contact picker and selects one contact row. Groupyid does not upload contacts. Member and usage exports leave the app only through a destination the administrator explicitly chooses. Those exported files may contain sensitive information and become the administrator’s responsibility.

Carrier transport

Messages approved by the administrator are transmitted through the selected mobile carrier as SMS or, only for separately verified recipients after explicit Beta enablement, individual text-only MMS. Carriers, recipient networks, and recipient devices may process and retain those messages under their own terms. Standard messaging and data charges may apply.

Control, retention, and deletion

Administrators control local groups, membership, exports, and retention settings. Participants can text STOP to suppress future ordinary delivery and cancel unsent items. Uninstalling Groupyid or clearing its app data removes app-local storage, but cannot retract messages already delivered or copies retained by carriers, the Android SMS/MMS provider, recipients, or administrator-created exports.

Security

Administrator operations use a local PIN. Sensitive screens block screenshots, Android backup is disabled, diagnostics are redacted, and carrier sends are bound to the selected SIM and a visible foreground service. No software or carrier network can guarantee confidentiality, availability, or delivery.

Children and lawful use

Groupyid is not directed to children under 13. Gateway administrators are responsible for lawful authority, consent, guardian permission where required, carrier approval, and compliance with messaging and privacy laws.
